Formation Leader - Katy Beedle Rice

Katy is a recognized Level 1 and Level 2 formation leader with the National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. For 11 years Katy served as the Director of Religious Education at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Juneau, Alaska. During that time she led her parish in establishing atria to serve all the parish’s children from ages 3 to 12. Currently, Katy lives in Boise, Idaho, where she volunteers as a catechist for children ages 3-12l. In May 2017 she graduated from Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri with a Masters in Pastoral Studies with a concentration in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. In 2021 Katy received her certification as a Montessori Guide for 3 to 6 year-old children. Katy brings with her great enthusiasm for this work and a love of living the religious life with children in the atrium. She and her husband have three children.

Formation Assistant - Sister Christiana Marie René, SMMC

Sister Christiana Marie began her CGS formation as a second year Novice and received her Level I certificate in 2016 . Since her initial formation, Sister has received formation in all levels of CGS including the seminal toddler course. Sister Christiana Marie currently serves as a level I, II and III catechist in the St. Philomena Atrium at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral and a level I catechist in the St. Joseph Atrium at St. Peter Parish. Sister is currently in the discernment process to become a Level I Formation Leader.

Cost

$600 - Tuition (Full payment due by May 31, 2024)

$100 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit due at the time of registration.

Founded in 1954, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd has attempted to further develop the work of Dr. Maria Montessori in the realm of the spiritual life of the child. Themes are presented in such a way as to develop the religious potential present in every child: the capacity to love and be loved and be in a deep relationship with God.  This course covers the minimum of 90 hours of formation needed to receive Level 1 Certification from the National Association of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
